In Sum

ผีพัฒนา / Komtouch Napattaloong / Thailand / 2026 / 17′

Corroded pixels and Cold War archival footage come together, composing a partial account of “development” in northeast Thailand, a region long shaped by Cold War tensions and rural modernization projects. Voices from the film Thailand’s Role in the Vietnam War and images from the Shell Film Company’s documentation of the Mekong River development project, along with Tongpan of the Isaan Film Group, manifest, distort and thin. The texts that emerge from these fragmented images form an uneasy presence, part archive, part machine, part memory.
