When masked U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents abduct a man from a residential street in Chicago without a warrant, his neighbors attempt to prevent the vehicle carrying him from leaving their block. Reprising the form and language developed with their Oscar-nominated short film Incident, director Bill Morrison and producer Jamie Kalven, in collaboration with producer María Inés Zamudio, assembled camera footage worn by CBP agents with cell phone footage shot by neighbors to capture a specific moment in the rise of fascist policing practices in America.

Bill Morrison
Bill Morrison is an Oscar-nominated filmmaker, called “the poet of lost films” (“New York Times,” 9/21/2021). He has premiered documentary features at the New York, Sundance, Telluride and Venice film festivals. Decasia (2002) was the first film of the 21st century to be included in the National Film Registry of the Library of Congress. Dawson City: Frozen Time (2016) was listed among the best films of the decade (2010) by such publications as “Associated Press,” “Los Angeles Times” and “Vanity Fair.” His most recent film, Incident (2023), won the International Documentary Association’s Best Short Film Award in 2023, the Cinema Eye Honors Award for Best Documentary Short and was nominated for an Oscar for Best Documentary Short in 2025.
