Dreams for a Better Past
El pasado será mejor / El passar serà millor / Albert Kuhn / Spain (Catalonia), Netherlands / 2025 / 21′
A photograph, a silent legacy of power and ideological battles that resonate across generations. Digging through fragments of the past, we glimpse what we choose not to see, what escapes the cracks in our consciousness. How we inherit what we cannot comprehend, forcing us to repeat the same gestures again and again.

Albert Kuhn
Albert Kuhn is a filmmaker whose work combines personal memory and archival research to explore silence, guilt and transgenerational history. His short film Dreams for a Better Past (2025) reflects this approach, interweaving one family’s story with a broader reflection on how what goes unsaid continues to shape us. In addition to his work as a filmmaker, Kuhn has participated in international co-productions and taught as a lecturer at the Netherlands Film Academy, ESCAC and the Sahara Cinema School.
