Full Professor of Documentary and Experimental Cinema at the IUAV University of Venice, he has been Visiting Professor at the Universit\u00e9 du Qu\u00e9bec in Montr\u00e9al and has taught at the Universit\u00e9 Paris 8, the DAMS at Roma Tre University, the Experimental Centre of Cinematography (in Rome and Palermo), the Scuola Volont\u00e9 in Rome, and at the CISA in Locarno. He deals with documentary cultures and with theories and practices of experimentation, with the relationship between cinema and other arts, and the history of Italian cinema. Among his books: <\/span>Storia del documentario italiano. Immagini e culture dell\u2019altro cinema <\/span><\/i>(2008), <\/span>Recycled cinema. Immagini perdute, visioni ritrovate <\/span><\/i>(2012), <\/span>Documentario come arte. Riuso, performance, autobiografia nell\u2019esperienza del cinema contemporaneo <\/span><\/i>(2018), <\/span>L\u2019Italia di Fellini. Immagini, paesaggi, forme di vita <\/span><\/i>(2021). He has curated exhibitions on Italian cinema in Italy and abroad and was part, with Studio Azzurro, of the team that designed the Fellini Museum in Rimini. Among his films: <\/span>Appunti romani<\/span><\/i> (2004), <\/span>Il senso degli altri<\/span><\/i> (2007), <\/span>Predappio in luce<\/span><\/i> (2008), <\/span>Profughi a Cinecitt\u00e0<\/span><\/i> (2012), <\/span>Cinema grattacielo<\/span><\/i> (2017), <\/span>Le storie che saremo<\/span><\/i> (2020, in equipe con altri). For RAI Storia he has hosted \u201cCorto Reale\u201d, a program on directors and forms of Italian documentary, aired from 2013 to today. In her works she investigates the female rapresentation and the rialeboration of the images by the memory, until <\/span>Un\u2019ora sola ti vorrei <\/span><\/i>(2002), un ritratto della madre scomparsa prematuramente e film fondativo della sua poetica, realizzato interamente con filmati di famiglia; in seguito con <\/span>Per Sempre <\/span><\/i>(2005) e <\/span>Vogliamo anche le rose <\/span><\/i>(2007) e con il primo lungometraggio di finzione, <\/span>Tutto parla di<\/span><\/i> te <\/span><\/i>(2012) prosegue la sua indagine sul femminile. <\/span>
<\/span>She’s the author of the video dramatturgy of the contemporary lyric <\/span>Il Sogno di una cosa<\/span><\/i> (2014), for the 40 year anniversary of Piazza della Loggia, with the music of Mauro Montalbetti and the direct of Marco Baliani,<\/span> the short <\/span>Confini<\/span><\/i> (2014) edited by archive movies from the First World War and Mariangela Gualtier’s poets, an episode of the collective film shot in Super 8 <\/span>14reels<\/span><\/i> (2015), the documentary <\/span>Anna Piaggi, una visionaria nella moda <\/span><\/i>(2015) and the multimedial directory of the Mauro Montalbetti’s opera <\/span>Hay\u00e8, le parole la notte<\/span><\/i>, (2017) focused of the migrants, lyiric libretto by Alessandro Leogrande<\/span>. <\/span><\/i>In 2019 she directs three short portraits of italian womans <\/span>commisioned by Gucci <\/span><\/i>and in 2020, commissioned by <\/span>Dior, <\/span><\/i> tells the story of the artist Lucia Marcucci in <\/span>To cut is to think<\/span><\/i>.<\/span>
<\/span>For MITO Festival Settembre Musica she realized the multimedial performance <\/span>Armoniche Visive <\/span><\/i>(Hangar Bicocca, 2007), in partnership wih dj Claudio Coccoluto and Saturnino.<\/span>
<\/span>Her film have won international prize and awards and were presented in contemporary art exhibitions.<\/span>
<\/span>Programmer and curator of retrospective and live performance for Triennale Milano and Festival dei Popoli Firenze.
