\nENG<\/strong>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1\/1″][vc_column_text uncode_shortcode_id=”101829″]D<\/span>rawing on the life of Eberhardt Brucks (1917\u20132008), the experimental documentary Unarchiving Gay Desire<\/em> builds on analog film footage originally shot on Standard 8, a selection of audio tapes, and the archived correspondence between Brucks and his partner Hans P\u00e4hlke. The combination of these archival materials held at the archive of Schwules Museum, Berlin, offers a perspective on the past that seeks to challenge established narratives about the history of gay oppression and emancipation, enabling a different way of thinking about current debates on identity.<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator sep_color=”color-855811″ uncode_shortcode_id=”160454″ sep_color_type=”uncode-palette” el_height=”10″][vc_column_text uncode_shortcode_id=”161983″]Archives<\/strong>: <\/span>The archive of Schwules Musem Berlin holds the estate of the largely unknown artist Eberhardt Brucks (1917\u20132008). This collection is the largest biographical estate in the archive. It comprises 15.000\u00a0 individual items and bundles. The film will be based on 41 exposed film reels (Standard\u00a0 8), photos in medium and 35mm formats, 50 letters Brucks exchanged with his partner\u00a0 Hans P\u00e4hlke, audio tapes on which their voices can be heard, as well as other\u00a0 materials such as notes, postcards, tickets, etc.<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator sep_color=”color-855811″ uncode_shortcode_id=”641202″ sep_color_type=”uncode-palette” el_height=”10″][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1\/4″][vc_single_image media=”11256″ media_width_percent=”100″ uncode_shortcode_id=”267401″][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/4″][vc_column_text uncode_shortcode_id=”552265″]Simon Dickel<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0Dr. phil., is a Senior Lecturer in Cultural Studies at the Department of English and American Studies, University of Potsdam, Germany. Among his film-related publications is the co-edited book Queer Cinema<\/em> (Ventil 2018).
