Karin Pennanen is a film director and screenwriter. Born in 1977 in Helsinki, Finland, she works and lives in the Finnish city of Espoo. After earning a Master of Arts degree in set design at Aalto University in Helsinki, she continued her studies in cinematography at Filmkunstskolen i Kabelv\u00e5g in Norway.Her training in the natural setting of the Lofoten Islands was a turning point for her directing career, and her background in set design and fine arts can be discerned from her interest in spatiality and visual effects in her films.
