in partnership with Triennale Milano
Innesti features a selection of short films by experimental filmmaker Federica Foglia, accompanied by new live soundtracks curated by Attila Faravelli, Enrico Malatesta and Nicola Ratti, three protagonists of contemporary musical research. The project interweaves Foglia’s abstract and material visual language with a site-specific sound dimension, designed to dialogue with space and generate an immersive experience. The combination of image and sound thus opens up to novel interpretations, inviting the viewer to explore new ways of listening and viewing.

Federica Foglia is a visual artist and PhD researcher in Cinema & Media Studies at York University – Toronto. Her practice revolves around tactile, recycled, amateur cinema, archives, ecofeminism, and materialist cinema. She works within the domestic space to rework found footage and orphan films, intervening directly on the celluloid body through a sculptural approach.
Her work engages with the physical qualities of the cinematic medium and the political significance of fragmented aesthetics. She is currently working on a project that involves ecological Emulsion Lifting techniques to rework 16mm archival films and the development of eco-sustainable photographic processes using algae-based materials.
Attila Faravelli
Attila Faravelli is a sound artist and electro-acoustic musician. He approaches sound in terms of a material and relational phenomenon. Through his practice he explores the relationships between sound, space and body. He is the founder and curator of Aural Tools, a series of simple sound objects whose purpose is to document the work of certain musicians not through the release of records but by investigating specific ways and processes by which they produce sound.
Enrico Malatesta
Enrico Malatesta is an Italian percussionist and sound researcher active in the field of experimental music, sound intervention and performance; his practice explores the relations between sound, space and body, the vitality of materials and the morphology of surfaces, with particular attention to the percussive acts and the modes of listenings. Since 2008 Enrico Malatesta has been presenting his works with tours all over Europe, Brazil, South Korea, Japan, UK, North America and Russia, participating in festivals and special events in venues such as Pirelli Hangar Bicocca – Milano, Berghain – Berlin, MAM – Rio de Janeiro.
Active with many solo projects and bearer of a deep practice on percussion instruments and modes of listening, he has nevertheless followed an artistic path based on openness and encounter, fostering mixing, collaboration and dialogue with other artists, researchers, performers. The result is a broad, always in becoming artistic experience that embraces diverse forms of actions and formats that often start locally as
social processes instead of cultural products – and slowly spread worldwide.
Nicola Ratti
Nicola Ratti is a multifaceted musician and sound designer who has been active for years in various experimental fields. His sound production creates systems that take shape from repetition and dilation, with particular attention to the construction of environments that gravitate in relation to the space and architecture we inhabit and balancing the emotional and perceptive orientations to which we are accustomed.
Born in Milan in 1978, he has performed solo or in other groups in Europe, North America, Russia and Japan and his albums have been published by various international labels. As a musician he has collaborative projects such as Bellows with Giuseppe Ielasi, NR / MA with Masato Egashira, What We Do When in Silence with Alessandra Novaga and Enrico Malatesta, Superpaesaggio with Malatesta and Attila Faravelli.
As a composer and sound-designer, his works cross different fields starting from the theatre, as the main context, to cinema through performing arts, radio works and sound-art in international contexts such as theater festivals, biennials and museums. Member and co-founder of Standards, a cultural center active in Milan between 2015 and 2022, he curates and organizes events that focus on the relationship between sound, space and body.
