Roberto Rossellini – Living Without A Script
Roberto Rossellini, più di una vita / Ilaria De Laurentiis, Andrea Paolo Massara, Raffaele Brunetti / Italy, Latvia / 2025 / 87′
In the mid-1950s, Roberto Rossellini, master of Neorealism, went through a professional and personal crisis. After the decline of his last films and his failed marriage to Ingrid Bergman, he decided to change his life, even going so far as to make a will in 1956. He accepted Indian Prime Minister Nehru’s proposal to film a documentary, a choice that would mark his rebirth. The film explores this lesser-known chapter, showing a free, curious man, averse to dogma and traditional cinema, who decides to turn to new formats such as television to communicate knowledge.
