Glances into the room is a documentary series that tells Italian history through images and emotions, offering small fragments of great cinema stories in a reduced format. It is a tale of hopes, disappointments, utopias and disillusionments, told by Italians themselves with their cameras, often unaware witnesses of their own time. The first three episodes explore the origins of this tale from the 1920s to the Liberation.

Q&A with the authors
Paolo Simoni
Paolo Simoni is co-founder and director of Home Movies – National Archive of Family Film, based in Bologna. A former collaborator of the Cineteca di Bologna, he holds a Ph.D. in Cultural Heritage from the Polytechnic University of Turin and has held research positions in several Italian universities. He has conceived and curated numerous projects for the recovery, valorization and reuse of private film heritage. His first experience as an author was the episodic film Reduced Format. Free rewrites of amateur cinema. (2012), which involved writers Ermanno Cavazzoni, Emidio Clementi, Enrico Brizzi, Wu Ming 2 and Ugo Corni as authors of the film’s texts.
Francesco Corsi
Francesco Corsi, author and director, holds a degree in History of Journalism and has divided his studies and training between the universities of Siena, Pisa, Barcelona and Madrid. He is co-founder of the production company Kiné, for which he mainly works on writing documentaries and serial projects. His first feature-length documentary, Memorias (2016), is a journey between Spain and Italy through territories still scarred by the wounds of the civil war, in search of voices and traces of memory. His second documentary, Caterina (2019) premiered at the 60th Festival dei Popoli, earning the MyMovies.it Audience Award and the Gli Imperdibili Distribution Award.
