A Near Thing
Una cosa vicina / Loris G. Nese / Italy / 2025 / 85′
In the 1990s, a child grows up surrounded by deep secrets. The men in his family, including his father, die too young, but he is still unable to understand why. When he discovers that his last name weighs like a brand in the city, he feels as if he is seeing his life again in the gangster and horror films he loves, mirroring the violence that changed his life. It is through film that, now an adult, he begins to question the past, to reconstruct his own identity. Turning his story into a film becomes the only way to deal with a cumbersome legacy and fill a void that has been with him forever.

Loris G. Nese
Loris G. Nese is a director, screenwriter, animator, cinematographer, and co-founder of the production company Lapazio Film. A Cinema graduate from Bologna, his short films have received international recognition. His feature-length documentary Una cosa vicina was selected at the 82nd Venice Film Festival in the Venice Days section.
