An 8mm reel of a Hollywood western comes flickering to life again. At the first trumpet blast, the cavalry charges as the fragile film struggles to keep up. It ripples, vibrates and tangles, caught in the chaos of gunfire and the roar of galloping hooves .

Patrick Doyon

Patrick Doyon is a filmmaker based in Montreal, Canada. His first film, Sunday, has won recognition on the international festival circuit and was nominated for Academy Awards in 2012. He studied graphic design and divides his time between illustration and animation. Many of his works have been awarded in different competitions: NYC Art Directors Club, Society of Illustrators, Communication Arts and Arte Laguna Prize. In 2015 he received the prestigious Governor General’s Literary Award for his first children’s book The Sandwich Thief (published by Chronicle Books). Parallel to his art practice, Patrick teaches animation at UQAM’s School of Design.
