Eight Postcards from Utopia is a found-footage documentary assembled exclusively out of post-socialist Romanian advertisements. Drawing from the debris of Romania, the film speaks about love and death, the human body and its frailty, the natural and the supernatural and of course, socialism and capitalism.
Bouncing between found poetry and an outdated encyclopedia, between trash art and Summa theologiae, Eight Postacrds sees Radu Jude teaming up with philosopher Christian Ferencz-Flatz to make another hilarious and unforgiving take down of meta capitalist mythology.

Radu Jude is a Romanian film director and screenwriter. Her debut work The Happiest Girl in the World (2009) was selected for more than 50 international film festivals. Subsequent works Aferim!, Scarred Hearts and Everybody in Our Family won numerous awards. The awarding of the film The dead Nation, at Locarno, in 2017, marked his debut in the documentary film genre. I Do Not Care If We Go Down in History as Barbarians (2018) won the Cristian Globe for best film, in Karlovy Vary, in 2018. Uppercase Print and The Exit of the Trains. (co-directed with Adrian Cioflâncă), premiered in Berlinale Forum 2020. Instead, his latest work, Bad Luck Banging or Loony Porn, won the Golden Bear at the Berlinale in 2021. He later made a number of short films: Semiotic Plastic (Out of Competition in Venice 2021), Caricaturana (Locarno Corti d’Autore 2021), Memories from the Eastern Front (co-directed with Cioflâncă – Berlinale Shorts 2022), The Potemkinists (Directors’ Fortnight 2022).
