On September 6, 2021, private security guards (at the service of big farmers) burned a Guarani Kaiowá family home, in Tekoha Ava’te, in the Retomada area, in the Dourados Reserve (Mato Grosso do Sul). The criminal action was recorded on video (in a single shot, running 02 min 52 sec 04 frames) by the Guarani Kaiowá People. On December 29, 2021, members of the pentecostal church “God is Love” burned a Guarani Kaiowá prayer house, in Tekoha Itay Ka’Agwyrusu, in Douradina (Mato Grosso do Sul). This criminal action was also recorded on video by the Guarani Kaiowá people. The Oga Pysy (House of Prayer) is a collective heritage of the culture and religion of the Guarani Kaiowá People. For the Guarani Kaiowá, Tekoha is the definition of indigenous land, ethnic and vital territory of the original peoples of Brazil – a place where one is.

Carlos Adriano

Carlos Adriano was born in São Paulo (Brazil), in 1966. He got a PhD in Film at the University of São Paulo in 2008 and became a post-doc researcher in Arts, Communications and Semiotics at the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo in 2014 and in Film at the University of São Paulo in 2017. Adriano was the subject of several retrospective exhibitions throughout the years. He received many prizes at various festivals and his films were shown in several Film Festival, such as Bilbao, Bologna, Cartagena, Chicago, Havana, Leuven, Locarno, Lussas, Madrid, New York, Oslo, Osnabrück, Paris, Pesaro, Philadelphia, Pordenone, Rotterdam, Toronto, and Ulaanbaatar.
