Una claustrocinefilia

Alessandro Aniballi / Italy / 2022 / 85’ / Italian

March 2020, the lockdown begins. A cinephile, Alessandro Aniballi, takes refuge in the only interlocutor he has left: his computer. He turns to his PC, in order to try to reconstruct his inner world and the outside world, made up of personal memories, but above all of iconic images of cinema from the past. Those images, those faces, those films obsess him to such an extent that he discovers and verifies that his visual memory is almost entirely occupied by the masterpieces that have made cinema history. Cinema thus becomes the tool to give meaning to his existence once again.

Alessandro Aniballi

After graduating in 2003 with a thesis on Orson Welles, Alessandro Aniballi began writing as film critic on various websites, until in 2013, together with other colleagues, he founded the magazine Quinlan.it. But film criticism rarely pays the bills and so he found himself having to do other jobs, including librarian, bookstore clerk, day and night porter. At the same time, his obsession with cinema also led him to compulsively write screenplays, which often remained on paper, although not always, such as two episodes of the TV series Rex , directed by Manetti Bros. Later he also became passionate about film editing, trying hard to learn its secrets, until he got the chance to be assistant editor for Federica Di Giacomo’s film, Il palazzo, presented in 2021 at the Venice Film Festival.
